TE Weaver likes the locals

Recruiting is starting to pick up for Washington (Pa.) Trinity tight end Nick Weaver. The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder is receiving mail from a variety of schools in the Big Ten, Big East, Big 12, ACC and more. Does he have any favorites?
"I'm getting interest from Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Kansas, Kansas State, Illinois, Cincinnati, Maryland, Colorado and Boston College mostly," he said. "I'd say I really like Penn State and Pittsburgh the most right now.

"I've grown up a Pittsburgh fan because they are right down the road. I also enjoy watching their team play. Penn State on the other hand is a hard team to ignore. They always have such good teams there and the coaching staff is superb."
Weaver isn't just a player on the gridiron. He also is a star athlete on the diamond as a pitcher and third baseman.
"I'm getting some recruiting interest from Coastal Carolina, Wake Forest and Florida State among others for baseball," he said. "I do have a lot of fun playing it and if there is a possibility to play both sports in college I'd love to, but my preference is with football."
The Pennsylvania prospect earned all-conference and Fabulous 22 honors as a junior.
"I think my strengths are my power and quickness," he stated. "I also have pretty good hands for a guy my size and I'm continuing to work with my quarterback Cody Endres once a week to improve my catching. I feel I still need to work on my speed training more so that I'm a little quicker too."
