Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart Griffin junior tight end prospect Jeff Sanders (6-foot-6, 235 pounds) is in the process of checking out several college campuses this spring.
"Last Wednesday I made an unofficial visit to Illinois," Sanders said. "I'm also planning to check out Indiana this Thursday, then I'm heading to Indiana on Friday night for it's spring game. I'm also heading to Purdue this coming Saturday."
Sanders, who has an early offer from Indiana, talked about his recent visit to Illinois.
"I had a chance to watch the Illini in a spring practice, and overall it was a lot of fun. It was nice to see that the coaches at the college level still yell at the players as much as they do on the high school level. The coaches definitely work just as hard as the players do, and the practice was definitely hard nosed and intense. Everyone is always in motion and everyone is always flying to the ball. I had a chance to talk with head coach Ron Zook and my recruiting coach Tom Sims, and I enjoyed talking to both of those coaches. The Illinois coaches definitely want me to camp at Illinois this summer."
Sanders has also been staying in touch this spring with a few coaches, and Sanders has also started to see new recruiting interest.
"I've been calling the coaches at Wisconsin and Arkansas on a weekly basis, just filling them in on what's been going on with me. I've also started to get steady mail recently from both Penn State and Georgia Tech, and I'm definitely interested in both of those schools."
As far as his summer camp plans, as far as Sanders is concerned it's team first.
"Several colleges have mentioned me camping with them this summer, but I also have several team camps and events that are my first priority. I'm still trying to sort out my summer schedule before I talk about any summer plans."
