TE likes Arizona visit

One players whose stock continues to climb is Sacramento (Calif.) Christian Brothers tight end and defensive end Matt Traverso.
Traverso has helped his team to a 4-1 mark this season. Traverso has hurt teams on both sides of the ball.

He has made eight sacks on defense and caught 11 passes for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns. His team’s defense has been so dominating that they’ve only given up 28 points through the entire season.
Traverso, who is 6-foot-6, 245 pounds and runs a 4.7-second 40-yard dash and rated the No. 13 tight end in the country by Rivals100.com, just returned from his official visit to Arizona over the weekend.
“I had a great time down there,” Traverso said. “The first night I stayed with Nic Costa (redshirt freshman quarterback) and we talked about the program and where it seems to be headed. Everybody was real positive down there.”
Traverso also met two of the Wildcats’ top commitments over the weekend, Pasadena (Calif.) Muir quarterback Ryan O’Hara and running Jason Martin.
But Traverso is not ready to make his decision yet. That’s because some schools made sure he knew he was wanted upon his return home from his official visit.
“Pat Hill (the Fresno State head coach) called me right when I got home and said I had a scholarship offer,” he said. “Cal and Northwestern called, too, and offered later that night.”
On Traverso’s top list of schools, he says Arizona is joined by UCLA, Illinois, Stanford, Fresno State, and Florida. All but the Gators and Cardinal have offered.
“I wouldn’t say I have a favorite. Just the top schools right now. I’m looking at all of them evenly, I guess.”
