Waconia, (Minn.) three star ranked tight end prospect Joey Hiben (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) from Waconia High School is psyched about finally getting a chance to make his long awaited official visit to the University of Notre Dame this weekend.
"I'm leaving on Thursday night for my official visit to Notre Dame," Hiben said. "I'm pretty pumped about finally getting a chance to meet all of the coaches and the players in person."
Hiben has also been trying to call a few potential prospects for the Irish over the last few weeks.
"I've been trying to stay in touch with a few different players who I know are still interested in Notre Dame. I know that Rafael Eubanks is planning to make an official visit to Notre Dame this weekend, and I'm really excited about him making an official visit to South Bend. Hopefully we can try to convince him to commit to the Irish, he's a great kid and I'm excited about having him in South Bend this weekend."
Hiben has also decided to forgo his senior season in basketball this winter.
"It was a really hard decision for me to not play basketball this winter, and when I go to the games and watch them play it makes it even harder. I'm spending this winter in the weight room, and I've been working out really hard. I'm up to about 245 pounds and I want to work as hard as I can to be in the best shape I can once I get to Notre Dame this coming summer. I'm also going to run track this spring."
Hiben in the meantime is just looking forward to his weekend visit in South Bend.
"I was really excited to make my visit before the coaching change happened, and it seems like it taken forever for this weekend to roll around. Now that it's here I'm excited, and I'm also going to try and help Notre Dame with it's recruiting as much as I can."
