TE heads to Texas with leader

Washington (D.C.) Dunbar tight end Vernon Davis is headed to San Antonio, Tex. for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl with a clear leader in mind. So will he commit while out there?
"I don't think I'll commit, but Maryland is my leader," said the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder. "I had a great visit there and I think I'd fit in really well there. They're close to home and are an up-and-coming team so right now they're my favorite."
Davis took his official visit to Maryland on Dec. 20 and still has a couple of trips left.
"I still want to take my Virginia trip on Jan. 17 and I'll probably take Florida on Jan. 24," he said. "If I need another visit, it will be West Virginia but right now it's still between Maryland and Virginia. I'm heading down to Texas Monday with Maryland ahead."
However, you can bet there will be some folks pushing Davis in different directions at the All-American Bowl.
"I'm sure some of the Virginia commits will work on me and I know I'll talk to some of the other guys from Maryland and D.C. about our visit to College Park," he said. "It will be a fun week."
