TE Flander goes camping

West Des Moines, Iowa tight end/defensive end prospect Trent Flander (6-foot-4, 230 pounds) finished his junior year at Dowling Catholic High School a few weeks ago, and Flander has been hitting the summer college camp circuit non-stop ever since.
“I've been keeping pretty bust so far this summer, that's for sure," Trent Flander said. “So far I've camped at Oklahoma for 2 1/2 days, then I went to a one-day camp at Kansas State. Right now I'm sitting in a dorm room at Iowa State, and I've just finished my second day of the Iowa State camp."

Flander talked about his recent camp performances. "The Oklahoma camp was my first camp, and it just felt pretty good to be able to put the pads back on and hit somebody. I felt that I had a pretty good camp, and the one thing that stood out about the Oklahoma camp is that it was very physical, which I like. I talked to the coaches quite a bit and they want me to call them very shortly, and they told me that they are very interested in me."
"The Kansas State camp was not a padded camp, so I was able to show my pass catching abilities and it felt more like a 7 on 7 more than anything. I feel like the Kansas State camp might be the best I've performed so far this summer, I just felt really good that day and it all just came together."
"The Iowa State camp has also been really good so far, I'll be here for another couple of days. It's fun here because I know a lot of the other campers here, and you just feel more at ease when you have kids that you've played against in the same camp. I've also been able to sit and talk with several of the coaches at Iowa State, and it's like I'm able to get to know them again. It seems like it's been forever since I was able to talk to them."
Despite his busy camp tour, don't expect Flander to lighten the load anytime soon. "I'll be at the University of Iowa camp on Saturday, and I'm looking forward to that camp as well. Then I'm also planning on camping at Miami, Kansas and Nebraska. I'm also going to camp at Indiana in late June."
