TE Cruz back on the market

Johnstown (Pa.) Bishop McCort tight end Jose Cruz was a North Carolina commitment for the longest time. However, last Tuesday the talented tight end and the football program parted ways. So what does the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder do now?
"It was kind of a mutual thing I guess," said Cruz of not being a Tar Heel commitment anymore. "I told them I wanted to look around and take a couple more visits and they told me they were going to recruit another tight end if that was the case. Now I have to figure out what I'll do. I have offers from Akron and Toledo and I'm taking a visit to Toledo this upcoming weekend (Jan. 28)."

Cruz doesn't want to go too far away from home if he can avoid it and would love an offer from Pitt, but the Panthers haven't called.
"Pitt never offered me," he said. "Boston College offered early but they stopped recruiting me when I committed. I'll probably head to the MAC."
Cruz is ranked as the No. 36 tight end in the country and the No. 23 player in the state of Pennsylvania.
