TE Burton playing waiting game

Paterson (N.J.) Paterson Catholic tight end Dante Burton has a nice list of offers to choose from but coaching changes and other developments have caused him to take a little bit longer than he may have originally planned.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound tight end took an official visit to Akron last weekend. It was the first official of the process for Burton, but more are on the way.

"Last weekend I took an official visit to Akron," Burton said. "It went good. I liked it.
"I was going to Syracuse but we haven't schedule that one yet. Without a doubt I'm going to make that happen. They're getting the staff in place right now. Coach Derrick Jackson is my recruiting coordinator and we talk all the time. He said he just has to worry about his job first.
"I have another official visit set for January 9 to see what East Carolina is like. They've been recruiting me pretty much since the beginning."
East Carolina assistant coach Vernon Hargreaves came by Burton's residence for an in-home visit not long ago.
"I still have offers from Cincinnati and Tennessee also," he continued. "Tennessee has some coaching issues so I'm going to wait for all of that to die down.
"From Cincinnati, I actually just talked to coach (Charley) Molnar yesterday. They were talking about him getting another job so there's been talk about whether he'll be leaving or not.
"Basically I'm going to wait for all these officials before I make my decision."
On the year Burton caught 11 passes, eight of which resulted in touchdowns.
