TE Burton makes his choice

Paterson (N.J.) Catholic tight end Dante Burton picked up offers from several schools over the course of the last few months and for a while he was torn regarding what he should do.
Burton took an official visit to Akron in mid-December and came away impressed with the Zips program. At the time he was hoping to set up a trip to Syracuse, while he was also in contact with Cincinnati and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound tight end took his second official visit to East Carolina over this past weekend. He was blown away by the experience and it was apparently all he needed to see.
"It was very good," Burton explained. "I wouldn't even compare it to anything else because it was just way better. I'm committed to ECU. It feels right for me."
Burton didn't look at just one thing in making his decision. At East Carolina he liked everything he saw.
"You know, I really got to see what they were looking for in a tight end," he said. "I fall into what they want and need perfectly. They've had Davon Drew and he's a great player. He was more of a receiver. He could block and all that, but for the most part he was a really good athlete. That's exactly what they're looking for and I can step in and do that.
"That's just the football part, though. Academically I'm going to be a business major. I met the head business guy there and he was amazing. He had a PhD and was a rodeo guy. He used to ride bulls and just has a great personality. I felt like I'd see a lot of him and I think it will work out well. He seems like a real good guy.
"Also, in Greenville it's all about East Carolina football. It's everything. It's like a big family there."
While Burton is confident he has made the right decision he did say he would be open to taking other official visits if new schools came along.
