TE Brown talks about commitment

Richmond (Va.) Hermitage tight end Duane Brown talked about his recent commitment.
"I committed to Virginia Tech for a lot of different reasons," said the 6-foot-5, 250-pounder, who committed to the Hokies earlier this week. "I really liked it there on my official visit and got along well with the players and coaches. I also felt I had a better chance to play early and make an impact at tight end at Tech.

"They really want to throw the ball a bit more and get the tight ends involved with Marcus Vick starting next season. I liked Virginia a lot as well, but they have some young tight ends who are really good and they're also recruiting a few others. I'd really prefer to play offense and I think I have a better shot at Tech."
Brown visited both Virginia and Virginia Tech over the last couple of weeks and, despite his teammate's commitment to the Cavaliers (wideout Fontel Mines), felt he had to move in his own direction.
"Playing together would have been cool, but we both agreed we needed to make the decision that was best for us," said Brown, who also plays defensive end. "It will be fun to compete against each other for the next four or five years."
