TCU provides Reese an interesting option

When Farmington, Mich., linebacker David Reese opened his process up to more schools in the fall, TCU was not a program he was expecting an offer from. Following this past weekend's official visit to Fort Worth, though, the Horned Frogs are getting a strong look from the three-star Midwest native.

"It is a small, private school and has a great education there," Reese said. "I got to talk to the business people and I was really impressed with their Business School."
TCU rarely recruits the Midwest, but Reese acclimated quickly with the other players on the Horned Frog's roster.
"Texas is a very friendly state and the guys treated me well," Reese said. "It was kind of funny being the only guy they've ever seen from Michigan because they usually don't recruit outside of Texas and Louisiana. They welcomed me with open arms and showed me a great time."
Reese was accompanied on the visit to TCU by both of his parents, who also came away impressed with the program.
"They definitely liked it," Reese said. "The most important thing they liked was the class size. We met with a lot of professors who come to practice every day."
A 6-foot-1, 238-pound inside linebacker prospect, Reese came away with a better understanding of the TCU defense, and his fit in that, from his visit.
"Coach (DeMontie) Cross has had seven guys go to the next level," Reese said. "There is definitely an opportunity to play there. On their depth chart there are two converted safeties and two freshmen playing linebacker there. Their defense makes you play in space, but you also have to be able to stop the run.
"They were telling me what attracted them to me was most of their linebackers are converted safeties and they still need a big man who can move in space like (Paul) Dawson and guys they had two years ago. I can see myself being that type of player. I'm not worried about the style of play in the Big 12 and feel like I can adapt to the fit."
Reese remains a soft verbal commit to Michigan, but he has also officially visited Florida and Nebraska and has an official visit to Texas coming up this weekend.
"I should be done (after Texas)," Reese said. "Probably during dead week I will give someone a call (to commit)."
Heading into his final official visit of the process, then, to Texas this upcoming weekend, Reese talked about what he will be looking for from the Longhorns.
"Everybody's going to have good facilities, I just want to see the people," Reese said. "I already know they have a great coaching staff and guys that I can relate to, so I am just excited to go down, check everything out and see what they're saying."
Reese has already graduated from high school and is eligible to enroll in the college of his choosing next month.
