TCU lands four-star 2024 QB Marcos Davila

Midland (Texas) Legacy four-star 2024 quarterback Marcos Davila has announced his commitment to TCU on Thursday as the Horned Frogs bring in their top signal-caller target in the current junior class.

This comes on the heels of a 12-1 season for TCU that led to a College Football Playoff berth, as well as a strong 2023 class that did feature a take at the quarterback position. With Garrett Riley's quarterback room rather vacant after this season, Davila will be able to step in and compete for playing time with Chandler Morris and whoever the Frogs decide to bring in via transfer portal.

Davila, a West Texas product, took two visits to TCU in the spring and summer and communicated to reporters that the Horned Frogs would compete with West Virginia for his commitment. After the fall season, it became apparent what the choice would be given TCU's success, and Davila decided to lock it down before the holidays.

A big-bodied pocket wizard, Davila saw a mass improvement from his sophomore season to his junior year in being crafty with space in the pocket and making correct decisions downfield. His downfield accuracy has become a strength of his game as he gets more comfortable with the 6A game in Texas.

In two seasons as the full-time starter, Davila has thrown for 5,767 yards and 62 touchdowns compared to 19 interceptions.

As for improvements, an uptick in Davila's mobility outside of the pocket could help him become a more lethal playmaker in extending plays. While he does have great presence in the pocket, having that presence outside would be just as beneficial to his game.

At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Davila is the No. 18 ranked pro-style quarterback in the country and the No. 36 ranked recruit from the state of Texas for the class of 2024, according to Rivals.
