Taylor takes surprise Penn State official

Rivals250 defensive tackle Phillip Taylor moved up his official visit with Penn State from September 30th to this past weekend when they played Cincinnati. Why did the 6-foot-3, 346-pounder move up the visit and what did he think about his trip to State College?
"It was a last minute thing to move up my visit and it worked out," he said. "It was great there, I loved it and I got to Penn State at 1:15 or 2 a.m. on Saturday. After sleeping, I went over to the stadium and had breakfast and chilled with the players before the game. Then I watched them play and beat Cincinnati 42-24. It was good and fun to watch. After the game I talked to the coaches and hung out with the players that night. The next morning I talked to coach Paterno and I was able to meet with people about majoring in Kinesiology."

On his visit, the Clinton (Md.) Gwynn Park prospect was hosted by Elijah Robinson.
"He was a cool guy and it was just like having a friend down there, it was a great time with him," he said. "I talked with him and Derrick Williams and a lot of the other guys on the team. Of them I enjoyed talking to Elijah the most because he told me things that coach Johnson does and there was no funny business, he told me it straight up."
The four-star prospect was able to talk with the coaches on his visit too.
"I got enough time with all the coaches. I had a great relationship with them and especially coach Johnson since he'll be the coach I'd be working with the next three or four years."
Taylor rated his first official visit a 9.5 or 10.
"It was just a great visit and right now I'd say they are up between number one and number two for me with Maryland."
The No. 7 defensive tackle in the country has four other schools currently in the running for officials.
"I haven't scheduled any other visits, but I'm looking at going to Maryland, Tennessee, Florida and Virginia Tech," he said. "There may be a couple others in the running still, but those are the leaders for my other officials now. I'll probably try to get one more visit before the season is over and then take the rest afterwards."
Is there a chance Taylor may decide before he takes all the visits?
