Taylor picks up in-state offer

Cedar Hill is usually one of the top teams in the state of Texas and this season is no different. The Longhorns are 5-2 on the year with their only losses coming to a pair of nationally-ranked foes and, as usual, it is the defense pacing the way for the team.
One of the leaders on the defense is linebacker Steven Taylor. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound senior had held offers from Arkansas State and UTEP for quite some time but recently added another one from an in-state program.

"I got an offer from Houston last week," Taylor said. "I didn't know they were going to offer. It definitely came as a surprise to me.
"They had come to see me in person, I think. They had also seen my film from around Week Three of the season against Denton Guyer. They said they liked what they saw."
Other than the Cougar coaches Taylor says he has not been in frequent contact with any colleges.
"I haven't really been talking to anybody else lately," he said. "I've talked to Central Arkansas in the past because they offered me. I also talk to UNT every once in a while but not a lot. That's really it."
Taylor could play either inside or outside linebacker but he says the majority of programs see him in the middle.
"Most schools are looking at me to play inside," he said. "Some have said outside but Houston is recruiting me as an inside linebacker."
The new offer made a big impression on the standout defender but he says he is not paying much attention to recruiting at the moment.
"I like Houston but I'm really just focused on my senior season," Taylor said. "We're really trying to win state this year. That's all I'm really worried about right now.
"I like Texas A&M too. That's the school that stands out the most. I really like Houston though. I'm really excited they offered me."
