Tatum is a U.S. Army All-American

Ft. Worth Dunbar safety Brandon Tatum received good news this week when he was named to the U.S. Army All-American game. It’s an honor that Tatum, a three-star prospect that is ranked as the nation’s No. 24 safety, is really excited about.
“It’s a great honor,” Tatum said.

“I feel like I’m really blessed. It’s going to be great. I really would like to think that I’m one of the nation’s best safeties, and I want a chance to go out there and prove myself, too. I also want to take it just as a game, too, and have some fun and enjoy it.”
Tatum hasn’t had a chance to enjoy his season too much. Dunbar is 0-3 on the season, but he has had some success despite the team’s struggles.
“In the last three games, I have 32 tackles, blocked two field goals and forced a fumble,” he said. “I’ve been busy. I still haven’t gotten that interception, though. They won’t throw my way.”
Tatum has been getting regular calls from Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Arizona and Texas Tech. At one point, Oklahoma State was his leader, but it looks like that has changed.
“I don’t think they’re really telling me it, but I think they already have their safeties and that they might not have room for a guy like me,” Tatum said. “They’ve told me that I still have a scholarship, but it sounds like they already got their guy.”
With OSU moving down, another team has been climbing up his list.
“A team that has moved up was Arkansas,” Tatum said. “They’re one of my top teams now. I just talked to them a lot, and they’re showing me a lot of interest. I watched them play against Texas, and even though they lost they looked really good. They haven’t offered me yet, but they said they’re looking over my transcript, and I know that’s a good sign.”
Tatum is working on a visit to Arizona, but no date in December has been scheduled.
