Tate talks about commitment

Khalil Tate has been hearing from some major powerhouses but the Gardena (Calif.) Serra prospect said he remains happy with his Arizona commitment.
"A couple colleges have been visiting," Tate said. "Alabama, Auburn and other than that it's really been it."

Oregon State, Washington and Texas A&M continue to pursue Tate, a three-star athlete who committed to Arizona to play quarterback.
The Wildcats have not backed off one inch since his commitment and Tate said getting the opportunity to play quarterback for a pass-happy offense like Arizona is a big reason why he committed there.
"I'm still strong with Arizona," Tate said. "Coach (Tony) Dews came out and I talked to him.
"Not a lot of people think I can play quarterback so that helps a lot."
As for local schools, USC continues to stay on the Serra prospect even though the Trojans probably want him to play receiver.
Tate is not shutting any doors and said he'll continue to talk to coaching staffs from across the country just in case something unforeseen happens with Arizona.
"I didn't know they had a quarterback commit," Tate said of USC. "My dad told me. That's pretty good for them. They don't want me as a quarterback I don't think so it really doesn't influence if I would go there or not.
"I still talk to (coaches). I still keep relationships with them because with coaching changes you never know what's going to happen."
