Tate takes his time

Pine Bluff (Ark.) three-star defensive end John Tate named a top five of Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Boise State, California, and Ole Miss this summer, but he continues to hear from a few other college programs. In fact, one SEC program has recently been coming on strong.
"I know Mississippi State," Tate said. "They haven't offered me yet, but they're hanging around. I'm supposed to go visit with them October 10."

The trip to Starkville will not be his first unofficial visit of the season, he took his first visit to Louisiana Tech.
"I went to Louisiana Tech the first Saturday in September," Tate said. "It was nice. They just got done with a building in the endzone. They just got done and it's nice in there. The coaches were nice. The coaches seemed like they were good coaches. It feels good up there."
He does not claim a favorite among his top five, and he plans to wait until after the football season to take his official visits.
As usual, expectations surrounding the Pine Bluff program are high, and Tate feels good about the start of the 2015 football season.
"The season is going well," Tate said. "We're 3-0 right now going into conference."
Tate is currently ranked a 5.7 three-star prospect and No. 5 in the Arkansas Preseason Top 10.
