Tate is Pac 10 bound

Fresno (Calif.) Edison has one of their best teams in years and is loaded with Div I players in both the senior and junior class. The third member of the Tigers program made his college commitment this week when running back John Tate announced for Washington.
Tate, 6-0, 200 pounds is one of the more under-rated prospects in the state this year. He's a physical back with a nice combination of size and speed. He had a very good summer where he saw his stock rise in the eyes of several colleges.

Early offers came in from Nevada and San Jose State but when the Huskies offered Tate a week ago, it didn't take the athlete long to jump on it.
"They actually offered him as an athlete," Tiger assistant coach Tony Perry said. "John can do either, running back, receiver or corner but he was just excited to get the offer from Washington. Where they want him really wasn't important to him, he just felt Washington was the best school for him.
"J.D Williams was the one recruiting him and I've known J.D for a long time. He really liked John when he saw him at one of our games a few weeks ago. He told me he thought John was one of the best athletes he saw in the state this year and I agree with him.
"I really feel Washington got a steal. John is just a very, very good athlete. I think receiver might be his best college position. He's a great offensive player and is very explosive with the ball in his hands. I really think John will blow up in college and is going to be a great college player."
