Tate has leaders, waits on offers

While his teammate, Rivals100 wide receiver Terrance Toliver, is having a big recruiting year so far, running back prospect Chris Tate is waiting on that first offer to come out of the tons of interest he's been receiving as of late.
The talented young man started as a freshman for Hempstead at the defensive back spot. Since then he's played everything from running back, wide receiver, and quarterback. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder has the ability to play all over the field, but he likes his abilities with the ball in his hands.

"I see myself playing running back in college because I just like that position," Tate said. "I've played a lot of places. That's what makes me a good player. I'm versatile. I just like running the ball the best."
Tate was a second-team all-district performer as a junior last year for his role at defensive back. Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UTEP, LSU, and others are sending mail. Tate hopes to hear something soon about an offer.
"I'm not sure who will be first," Tate said. "I went to the Texas A&M junior day and I'm planning on going back for their camp. They haven't spoken with me about an offer yet, but I'm waiting it out."
"A&M and Texas Tech are my favorites right now. I've just always liked those schools."
Tate, a humble performer, says he didn't keep up much with his junior year stats. He'll look to collect even bigger honors as a senior.
"My interest is coming because of my versatility," he said. "I'll just continue to show that this coming season."
