picked up another major scholarship offer toward the end of his summer.
“I got offered by Florida after their camp,” he said. “I went there and had a great time, learned a lot from their coaches, and after it was over they said they were offering me a scholarship. I was pretty excited about that.
“I liked their O-Line coach (Joe Wickline) a lot. He’s a guy I can really relate to. He’s from around where I live, so we talked about some things we had in common.”
And how did the experience help the Gators’ position on his list of prospective schools?
“Quite a bit,” he said. “Anyone who offers me is going to be up there high right now.”
Tartt (6-4, 310, 5.15) is Rivals.com’s No. 13 guard in the Class of 2004. He also has offers from Clemson and Florida State. The Gators, Tigers and Seminoles comprise his top three, but he also has strong interest in Miami, Georgia, Alabama and Michigan.
“I haven’t narrowed things down too much,” he said. “I’ll probably start doing that somewhere toward the middle or end of my season.”
Tartt, who earned first-team Class 3A all-state honors as a junior, boasts a 420-pound bench press and a squat of more than 500 pounds. He also projects as a full-qualifier with a 2.8 GPA and 17 on the ACT.
