J.R. Walker is a very intriguing prospect and schools are starting to take notice. The Elizabeth City (N.C.) Northeastern athlete holds seven offers so far but two schools have already piqued his interest.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“The offer from South Carolina caught my eye,” Walker said. “That's my first SEC offer and it shows that just ACC schools aren't interested in me. I was there twice and it was a really great environment. I really like how the players were involved and the crowd was really into it at the spring game.

“I like North Carolina,” he said. “I grew up liking their basketball team. My favorite player was Josh Jackson. I went to a junior day there and like talking to some of the coaches. Coach Fedora was pretty cool. We talked about how I could get better and stay motivated.

"Some teams want me on offense some teams want me on defense,” said Walker. “The two positions that everybody has been talking about are cornerback and safety. I think I'd prefer defense.

“I'd really like to hear from Clemson,” he said. “That's my favorite college football teams and I liked how Deshaun Watson took over the team when he needed to.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Walker has the ability to play all over the field and provided evidence of that last Friday during his game at Norfolk (Va.) Norview. He played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, linebacker, safety, and cornerback and had success at all of them. He will most likely end up at safety or outside linebacker in college because of his nose for the ball and physical style. Walker has a very bright future and both South Carolina and North Caorlina could use a defender like him. There is a lot of time left in his recruitment and many more schools are bound to get into the mix.
