Tampa WR makes baseball pledge

One of the state of Florida’s top receiver prospects has decided to take a different route to college. Instead of focusing on football, Tampa (Fla.) Plant receiver/outfielder Corey Brown is heading to the ACC to play baseball in college.
“He just committed to UVA last week,” his mother, Kathy Brown, said. “He gave up football this season and focused hard on baseball. He was just recently ranked as one of the top players in the nation at a showcase and we feel his longevity is best for baseball.”
Brown is ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the South by TeamOneBaseball. He was a two-star receiver prospect that had picked up offers from Duke, Michigan State and several other programs. He picked UVA in baseball over Rice and Stanford.
