Skinny: Tampa-Jefferson's Andre Caldwell is going to be one of the top wide receivers in the state this season. Andre is the younger brother of former Florida WR Reche Caldwell who was recently selected in April's NFL Draft. Andre is getting a ton of attention already.
"I get a lot of mail," Caldwell said. "I get at least 10 letters a day."
Caldwell, who also stars in track, said he had scholarship offers from Florida, Michigan State, and West Virginia.
Could we expect another Caldwell at the University of Florida? Not necessarily. Andre said he is taking an open attitude towards the recruiting process.
"I'm just looking for a place where I can get on the field as quick as possible," Caldwell said. "I'm looking at the depth at my position at each of the colleges. I'm going to ride it out, take all my visits, and have fun with it. I'm not going to commit early."
Caldwell plays some safety in high school but expects to be stricly recruited to be a wide receiver in college. He also returns kicks and punts for Jefferson High School. Andre attended Florida's spring game and is undecided on what summer camps he plans to attend.
What makes him a talented wide receiver on the field?
"Probably my speed," Caldwell said. "I'm also quick and aggressive."
Caldwell said he likes to compare himself to San Francisco wide receiver Terrell Owens.
