Tampa tight end emerges

While he awaits his first official scholarship offer, Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson tight end Byron McLeod has been getting lots of attention from a number of programs.
"I've been getting a lot of letters from a lot of colleges," McLeod said.

Florida, Auburn, Clemson and Connecticut, among others have been keeping in touch with the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder.
McLeod is a versatile athlete who can also play defensive end. He is ready to step into the position manned by four-star Florida-bound tight end Trent Pupello last season.
"I like to play a lot of positions so I can show my talent on different area's of the field," McLeod said. "Next year I feel like I've got to take (Pupello's) position, his spot. I think I've got to prove myself this year."
McLeod feels like he can become a factor in the passing game.
"I got the best hands down here," he said. "The best hands in the South."
Growing up, McLeod was a fan of the hometown South Florida Bulls, but is wide open with regards to his college choice at the moment,
McLeod attended the Rivals.com Junior Day on April 1 in Orlando, Fla.
