Tampa RB likes the Gators

TAMPA, Fla.- Middleton High running back Carlton Jones has primarily been getting interest from two programs, one from the Southeastern Conference and one from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
"I have (verbal) offers from Florida and Maryland," Jones said. "Florida stands out right now."

There are several things that Jones likes about the Gators.
"The school has got nice facilities and I am good with all of their coaches," Jones said. "I went up there for Junior Day and it was nice."
Florida assistant coach Stan Drayton, a two-time Rivals.com Top 25 recruiter (Classes of 2006 and 2007), is Jones' recruiter of record.
Though the Terps have been showing interest, Jones does not know much about the program.
Auburn, South Carolina and Alabama also have been showing interest.
Jones had more than 1,200 rushing yard during his junior season, including 236 yards against Tampa Robinson. He started the year as Middleton's starting quarterback before switching to running back midway through the season.
"My goals for next year are to produce and become a better running back," he said. "And also, make it to state."
