Tampa (Fla.) Middleton running back Carlton Jones hasn't gotten any scholarship offers yet, but is getting plenty of mail from a number of college programs.
"Mainly I've been hearing from Florida, the University of Florida," Jones said. "Also sending letters have been Connecticut, Tennessee, Auburn, Maryland, Ole Miss."
The Gators currently are the favorite.
"I am just good with the coaches (at Florida)," he said. "I like the coaching staff. It is a good coaching staff."
Jones started the season at quarterback for Middleton before being moved to running back. He responded with 239 yards rushing, including a 93-yard touchdown run, in his first game. The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder says that strength and speed are assets to his game.
"It's a combination of both," he said. "I am strong and fast."
There are several things he is going to be looking at before making a decision.
"Do they run the ball, what kind of offense do they run and things like that."
