Tampa QB on the rise

Tarean Austin is a quarterback prospect from the state of Florida that you will hear a lot about in the coming months. Austin, 6-2 and 200 pounds, passed for over 1,700 yards and 19 scores last season. He also rushed for four touchdowns. Austin is also a standout basketball player and participates in track (long and triple jump). He's simply an outstanding athlete with a big arm.
"Tarean has a great arm," Hillsboro head coach Earl Garcia said. "He's a student of the game and he reads (defenses) as well as anyone I have ever had. He has a great frame and will be a huge quarterback that's athletic."

Austin is a pro-style quarterback with the quickness and athletic ability to be dangerous in the pocket.
"I think I can scramble well," Austin said. "I'm a threat to the run to. I have a strong arm and more of drop back guy thought that's just dangerous with the ball."
Austin has scholarship offers from USF, UCF, Purdue, Duke, Wake Forest, Florida International, Richmond and others. He's open at this time and just wants to see what's out there.
"My favorite team is Texas, to be honest with you. But they are not recruiting me. I really don't have a favorite at this time."
Austin has been to one junior day and that was locally to check out the Bulls.
"It was pretty good. I liked it and I like them. USF has real nice facilities and good coaches."
