"I had a whole lot of people calling me last month,"
said Jefferson High School's
Josh
Balloon. "Boston College, Wake Forest, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Miami
and Florida have recruited me the most, but some new teams, like Alabama, have
started to show a whole lot more interest lately."
Balloon, who started at both fullback and linebacker for
Jefferson, is being recruited at both positions.
"It depends on the school," he said. "It's about half
and half right now, maybe more for running back. I don't really mind one way or
another. I just want to go where I can fit in and get the most playing time. I
do real well at both positions."
Balloon has offers from Northwestern and South Florida.
He grew up a Miami and Virginia Tech fan. That automatically makes the Canes his
favorite, but he hasn't heard much from the Hokies' staff.
"I may go to camp there with Rashaun (Grant)," he said
of his Jefferson backfield mate. "We're talking about going to some places we
like but haven't heard as much from so they can get a good look at us. We might
go to Texas, Virginia and Virginia Tech."
Balloon (4.45 forty, 275 bench) is also an strong student, sporting a 3.5
GPA. He's awaiting results from his first standardized tests.
