Junior to Watch: Jermaine Lemons

School: Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson

Position: Defensive end

Size and Speed: Lemons is 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds. He has been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.6 seconds and has a 360 pound bench. With a 3.8 grade point average, he shouldn’t have any problems qualifying.

Honors: Lemons was selected to the all-conference and all- county teams as a junior.

Statistics Lemons totaled an estimated 80 tackles, 11 sacks and four caused fumbles as a junior.

Favorites: Miami is his favorite team followed by Florida State, Georgia Tech and Auburn.

Skinny: This year Tampa Jefferson will have several division 1 prospects on their team. One of the very best of that bunch will be defensive end Jermaine Lemons. This talented athlete already has offers from Michigan State and Auburn. He’s receiving letters from all over the country. He’s waiting on offers from Miami, Florida State and Georgia Tech.

What does Lemons, whose favorite player growing up is Javon Kearse, like about each of his favorites?

“I like Miami because it’s not too far from home, and they have a good football program that puts players in the NFL,” Lemons said. “It’s also a school where you can good get a good education. I like Florida State for the same reasons. Georgia Tech has one of top engineering schools in the country and that’s good because I want to be a Civil Engineer. I’m interested in Auburn because of my conversations with their coaches.”

Lemons, whose physical assets are quickness and strength, will be showcasing his game this summer at the Miami and Auburn football camps.
