Tampa DB sleeper no more

Tampa (Fla.) Chamberlain brought a couple of under the radar prospects to the Tallahassee NIKE camp. Both players performed well and have since earned scholarship offers, one of those prospects is wide receiver Edner Alcin.
"I have verbal offers from Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Florida Atlantic, Rutgers, Akron, Tulane, Minnesota and Bowling Green," Alcin said. "They all told me in May that they were going to offer, but I haven't seen anything from them in writing yet. I haven't taken the SAT yet, maybe that is why."

Alcin attended the NIKE camp in Tallahassee in May where he ran the second fastest 40-yard dash time among wide receivers at 4.44 seconds.
"Miami, Florida, Pittsburgh, Missouri, Akron, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Rutgers, West Virginia and some others came by in May," Alcin said. "Miami told me that they would probably offer me if I cam to camp. I was planning to go, but because of a hurricane I could not make it down there."
The 6-foot-0, 164-pound Alcin caught one pass in his spring game for 48 yards and a touchdown. At the NIKE camp he also posted a 32-inch vertical jump.
"My top schools are Pittsburgh, Miami, Florida, Iowa, Akron, Rutgers and Iowa State right now," Alcin said. "I am really looking at the type of offense that a school runs. I would like to stay kind of close to home if possible, but I'm not ruling out any schools that are out of state for sure."
He attended the Rutgers camp in Tampa last month and will be making the short commute to South Florida for a camp in two weeks.
"I will probably let the process go a while," Alcin said. "I am not in a rush to make a decision. I plan on taking my official visits and deciding after that. Right now everyone is recruiting me to play wide receiver, which is where I want to play."
