Tampa athlete has good size, speed

Tampa (Fla.) Blake tight end/athlete Ryan Davis is a prospect from the Tampa area who could see a deluge of scholarship offers once word gets out about his ability.

Davis is 6-foot-4, 220-pounds and has been timed as fast as 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He plays tight end and defensive end for his high school team, but could possible be a big wide receiver at the next level.
Ironically, Florida is the first school to make contact with Davis, a life-long Florida State fan.
"I got a note from (the Gators)," Davis said. "Nobody else has been in contact with me."
Davis has an early top four of the Seminoles, Florida, Georgia Tech and Miami (Fla.). He spoke with Rivals.com about each of his early favorites.
Florida State: "I've been wanting to be a Seminole since I was little. They have what I want in a school, too. I want to major in electrical engineering and they have a good school for that."
Florida: "I like their sports program at Florida. Their football and basketball programs are both real close (to reaching a championship level)."
Georgia Tech: "School would be a factor there (Tech has a strong engineering program). I also like the fact that they are close to home."
Miami (Fla.): "I've always pulled for the Hurricanes, too. Not as much as I pulled for Florida State and Florida, but I've pulled for them. I like the location."
Georgia, Kentucky and Tuskegee are three other programs that Davis is interested in early.
Davis caught approximately 30 passes for 300 yards and a touchdown during his junior year. In addition to his catching prowess, he had a good season blocking.
"I'm right there with my blocking," he said.
Davis plans to attend the Gainesville NIKE camp, set for May 20 on the campus of the University of Florida.
