Tamburo picks up first offer

Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett dual-threat quarterback Michael Tamburo put up huge numbers in 2007 and led his team to the state championship game and he has now picked up offer number one.
"Tulsa called my coach (Bob Sphire) earlier this week and told him that they had watched my film three times and that they were interested in me," said Tamburo.
"Then Coach [Gus] Malzahn called him back two days later and I happened to be in his class working out, so I was able to go in there and talk to him. He talked to me for a few minutes and said that he talked to the head coach and they wanted to offer me a scholarship."
This offer definitely gets the attention of the 6-foot-1 south paw that threw for 2,400 yards and 20 touchdowns while running for 650 yards and 10 more touchdowns.
"Their coach told me they had the number one offense in the country last year, so that was something that stood out. They also run the spread offense with a lot of no huddle like we do, so that is great too."
"Their offensive system really seems like it would fit me, so that interests me a lot."
It interests him so much that he hopes to take a visit out to Oklahoma soon.
"I don't have one set up yet, but I am definitely going try to visit there in the next few week," he said. "I know I am going to visit South Florida soon and I am going to try to visit Tulsa too."
South Florida is a school showing Tamburo a lot of attention and he thinks the Bulls are one of three schools very close to offering him.
"USF is recruiting me harder than anyone right now and them, Oklahoma State, and Michigan State have all told my dad that they are 90 percent sure they will offer me soon. I think any of those could offer at any time."
The attention is picking up and the first offer is in for the Peach State QB, but he is not ready to name a leader.
"I am still pretty much open to anyone," Tamburo stated. "The offer from Tulsa is great and I am interested in them, but I want to wait before naming a leader."
"I have visited Clemson and East Carolina so far and those visits were nice and now I want to see who else offers and how my next visits go. I am just going to take my time right now."
