Tallahassee WR hopes to turn it around

Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida A&M doesn't get as much attention as some of the more marquee programs in the area because it hasn't produced as many wins on the field the past few years. Safety Brandon Sampson hopes to change that perception this season.
"We didn't do so good last year," Sampson said. "We were 2-7, but it's my senior season. We have to go out there and do it. We're going to turn things around. We've been working out every day as a team. We didn't have to have the coaches call any of our guys once.

"We did it as a team."
The hard work as a team also improved Sampson's game. He said he's improved his strength and speed – something he said he needed to work hard on after running a 4.97-second time at the Tallahassee NIKE Camp.
"I've been jumping rope and running sprints in my backyard on my own," he said. "I got my footwork so much better. I think it's going to pay off."
The first test comes on Monday when Florida A&M starts practices. It could also come when schools decide whether or not to offer him a scholarship.
"I do have one offer from UCF," Sampson said. "Coach (Dave) Huxtable is recruiting me. I'm also getting regular attention from Iowa, Iowa State and South Carolina. They also all called me in May."
