Tallahassee RB primed for breakout

Another
in the seemingly endless line of talent at Florida's Tallahassee Godby High

School is all-purpose back
Reggie Davis.
A 6-foot-1, 207-pound
picture of versatility, Davis carried the ball 45 times for 400 yards as a
junior, averaging 8.9 yards per attempt. Now he's eager for his senior season to
arrive as he becomes more of a focal point for the Godby offensive attack.
"I'm going to be more of a featured back this coming
season, so I'm pretty hyped about that," Davis said. "I'm going for 1,000 yards.
That's my goal. We've got a lot of good receivers (Marcus Clayton, Landel Bembo)
but I should be the main main in our running game."
Davis also has a reputation for good hands. He caught
nine passes for 100 yards out of the backfield last year.
"My style is to do whatever it takes to help the team
win," he said. "And I'm aggressive, game-time mode all the time. I like to go
hard."
Godby assistant coach Chad Pursell says Davis is a late
bloomer who looms as a major "sleeper" in the Sunshine State this season. "All
he needs is more touches," he said, "and we plan to do that this season."
Davis' impressive physical skills alone (4.5 forty, 290
bench, 385 squat) have already drawn a scholarship offer from Boston College.
He's also hearing regularly from Iowa, UConn, South Florida and Central Florida.
"I've always loved the Florida teams, so I'm hoping to
hear from FSU, Florida and Miami, too," he said. "If I have a big year, I think
they'll be watching."
