Talented SoCal QB is MWC bound

Glendora (Calif.) quarterback Jacob Crook is not only one of the most talented signal callers in the West region, he just might be the toughest. Crook will take his considerable skills to UNLV, to which he recently committed.
Just how tough is Crook? In a week two game against perennial SoCal power Bishop Amat, Crook was hit awkwardly and was forced to leave the game early. Crook tore his ACL on the play, but missed just one game and is back on the field leading the team.

“We just tape it up real good before every game and I go out there and do my best,” Crook said. “It’s a little painful but we have to much riding on this season for me to sit out. I’ll need surgery at the end of the season but I can play on it and it’s not going to get any worse.”
Earlier in the year, we spoke with Crook, who told us recruiting was going a little slow but he was definitely going to wait things out and was in no hurry to make a decision. He was offered early by UNLV, Wisconsin and UTEP but decided he had waited long enough.
“I really liked UNLV when I took an unofficial visit in the summer,” Crook said. “It’s close to home and I really like the campus and people there. It’s a little hard because Coach (John) Robinson has already resigned and I really like him a lot. I have not been assured that my scholarship will be there for me if a new coach is hired from outside the program so that also makes it tough.
“I would love for them to hire Coach (Bruce) Snyder and I know a lot of people close to the program want that as well so hopefully that happens. It would be tough to have to re-open up things so I’m still planning on listening to other schools if they call me but best case scenario for me is that I’ll get to stay with my commitment to UNLV.”
