Talented DE Gets First Offer

Amherst, Va. defensive end Barry Booker received his first offer this past week and others should be following.
“I received an offer from East Carolina the other day,” said the 6-foot-4, 255-pounder who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. “I’m also being recruited by North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Those are the five teams I like.”

Booker remains open and doesn’t have a favorite at this time. He’s going to camp at North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech this summer. Even if all of his favorites offer him this summer, he wants to wait until he decides.
“I want to take some official visits and meet the players and coaches,” he said. “All the schools are close enough to home so that won’t be a factor.”
Booker wasn’t sure of his junior year stats although he thinks he had five or six sacks. He also played fullback on offense but everyone is recruiting him as a defensive end or tackle. He was an all-district performer as a junior.
“There were about five or six teams that visited my school this May,” he said. “I know all my favorites were there.”
