Talented CB Commits

One of Virginia's most underrated players has made his choice. Highland Springs, Va. cornerback Larry Williams will be playing in the Big East next year.
"Larry committed to West Virginia on Friday," said Highland Springs Head Coach Scott Burton of his shut-down cornerback. "He had offers from Tennessee, NC State and North Carolina to name a few but he really felt good about the direction that West Virginia is headed.

"They also showed confidence in him academically. He still needs to get his score to qualify, but he's projected to do so. West Virginia told him they wanted him now and didn't need to wait. That impressed him."
Williams, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 185 pounds, is one of the most underrated players in Virginia and the fourth player from Highland Springs to commit to a D1A school over the last two years. Last year, Noland Burchette (Virginia Tech), Derek Bryant (Duke) and Aaron Bryant (Ohio) all signed to play D-1 football.
"I took over the program four years ago and we're really starting to pump out some very good players," said Burton. "We're 8-1 this year and Larry has been a big part of that."
Williams has 28 tackles and five deflected passes so far this season on defense and 31 catches for 737 yards and five scores on offense.
"We've played nine games this year and he's probably had nine balls thrown his way," Burton said. "He's a press corner who likes to play physical and get up on wide receivers on the line of scrimmage."
Williams and Burton visited West Virginia unofficially the weekend of their game against Miami.
