Talented athlete picks Purdue

One of the most talented and versatile prospects in Pennsylvania has made his college decision and he doesn't plan on looking back.
Brandon Cottom, a jumbo athlete from Newtown (Pa.) Council Rock North, has committed to spend his college years playing football and studying at Purdue.

"It was the coaches," Cottom told Rivals.com shortly after making his decision. "I went out to one of their camps and the coaching was real good. They coached me hard.
"They have very good academics, too, and they have my major. Plus they have a good team."
Academics are a major part of the college experience at Purdue, and they were a huge factor in Cottom's decision.
The 6-foot-2, 233-pound recruit attended an aviation camp when he was younger and ever since he has been enamored with the idea of learning to fly. Thus, he plans on majoring in aviation while he's at the Big Ten school.
"Duke was in the running," Cottom continued. "Rutgers and Syracuse were in the running also. Overall I just liked Purdue the most."
Cottom said he is solidly committed to Purdue and will not be visiting any other schools. He said the Boilermakers recruited him as a big running back and as someone that can contribute early on special teams.
