THE STORYLINE
The recruitment of Arjei Henderson has been incredibly interesting for no other reason than it has been so unpredictable.
The four-star receiver from Richmond (Texas) Travis has been committed to Oklahoma on two separate occasions. He also made a pledge to Oregon at one point. And now Henderson is working on a busy visit schedule for January that could really spotlight which programs could land the talented receiver.
At Under Armour registration day, Henderson said that his top schools are now LSU, Georgia, Florida State, Florida and Penn State. The thinking is that this could wind up as a battle between Georgia and FSU, but no one is quite certain what Henderson is thinking.
With four official visits remaining, Henderson is working on trips to Georgia, Florida State and Penn State in the coming weeks. Another one could happen as well, and then Florida is also trying to make a push to stay relevant in his recruitment.
Henderson has been committed three times. A final decision is coming up. Could this be a Georgia-Florida State duel until the end? Or can another team sneak in there and land the four-star prospect?
FIRST TAKE: JAKE REUSE, UGASPORTS.COM
“There’s no doubt the Bulldogs would love to finish the Class of 2019 with another top receiver, and Arjei Henderson certainly fits the bill. While Jadon Haselwood and George Pickens would likely be Georgia’s top two options, that pair feels like anything but a certainty in any regard. Such being the case, Henderson would be a great option, but can a seemingly 11th hour Hail Mary win him away? We’re skeptical on that. Georgia may push - and push hard - but a receiver like Ole Miss commit Jonathan Mingo appears to be a more realistic option moving forward. Make no mistake, however: If Henderson wants in, Georgia will have a spot.”
SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM
“I think it’s between Georgia and Florida State. He set an official visit to Florida State, he likes them, likes what they’re telling him. He mentioned to me Georgia was his leader at one point, but I think he’s pretty wide open. My guess is that it’s going to come down to those two schools, but he’s really hard to read and I don’t think anybody will have a really good idea until the official visits occur.”
