Tailbacks stock is on the rise

Most recruiting fans have heard of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas All-American linebacker Tavares Gooden, but not as many have heard of his teammate David Marrero. The 5-foot-10 and 190 pound running back has turned his fair share heads also this spring, and he has already 12 scholarship offers to show for it.
“I have offers from Maryland, North Carolina State, Stanford, Boston College, Indiana, Purdue, Rutgers, Auburn, Marshall, Miami of Ohio, Tulane, and Northwestern,” Marrero said. “Florida State said that they would offers late in the season also”.

With so much interest from college scouts, who has the inside track for the speedy-tailback?
“I would have to say Stanford is my leader,” Marrero said. “Stanford has the best combination of academics and athletics in the country. Coach Buddy Teevens is taking that program in the right direction. I took an unofficial visit there two weekends ago. If I get accepted into the Stanford, I’m considering committing there early. I need an 1100 on the SAT to get in there. Currently, I have a score of 1080.”
Look for Marrero’s stock to continue to rise this summer and fall.
