T.J. Johnson visits USC

Last weekend Aynor, S.C. offensive guard T.J. Johnson made an unofficial visit to South Carolina. The 6-foot-4, 285-pounder enjoyed his time in Columbia, but did the Gamecocks offer?
"I went to USC and really liked it," he said. "They have a lot going for them. They've got a good recruiting class and are headed in the right direction with a solid staff. I really liked the way the coaches knew what they were talking about and they've got nice facilities.

"As far as an offer, they haven't yet but got my film and plan to look at it. Steve Spurrier Jr. told me he plans to come down in May and talk to me more."
The visit didn't put South Carolina on top early for the in-state lineman.
"Everything is still pretty wide open," he said. "I don't think anybody stands out and I never really grew up with a favorite school.
"I just know I want a good coach and staff that could possibly get me to the next level. I also want a place with a real good education and a nice campus. I would like to go somewhere my family can watch me play too, but I don't think that'll be a determining factor."
Other schools including Penn State, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame have shown interest in the lineman.
Next week Johnson plans to head to Clemson for a junior day.
He's also starting to schedule summer camps including ones to Clemson, Virginia Tech, South Carolina and possibly Georgia.
