Syracuse picks up Fork Union linebacker

Marquis Spruill is a linebacker prospect that made his decision earlier today. Spruill, 6-1 and 220 pounds, committed to the Orangemen.
"Yes sir I did. I committed to Syracuse," Spruill said. "I did it a few hours ago. It's close to home, my friends and family can see me play and it's just a great opportunity to play early. I think I can come in and get some playing time, period. I don't want to red-shirt. It's a perfect opportunity for me."

Spruill, from Hillside, New Jersey, attended to Fork Union at the suggestion of his high school coach, John Power. He wasn't there to work on his grades. Spruill went to Fork Union to gain exposure.
As a junior Spruill played on an 0-10 team. At the time, he was a guard and defensive tackle before moving to linebacker for the 2008 season.
"He's a great player," Power said. "He's physical and fast. Marquis has only played two seasons (at linebacker) so the sky is the limit for him because he's got all the physical tools. He'll be a great fit for Syracuse because he does all the right things on and off the field."
