Syracuse lands versatile RB

The Syracuse Orange saw all they needed to see of running back Jamere Knox when they watched his film on his unofficial visit this past weekend. Knox, a 5-foot-10, 158-pounder with excellent speed and good versatility, committed this morning just a day after his offer.
"Syracuse is the place," said Knox, from Salisbury (Md.) Wicomico. "I really liked it there and the education they can offer is important. I know they are very strong in many areas so that was a big factor."

Knox was being recruited by Maryland, Virginia and others but Syracuse was the first to put an offer on the table.
"That's important too, they showed that they wanted me," he said. "They said they liked my versatility at running back, that I can catch the ball as well as run."
To Knox, it will be a bit of a homecoming.
"I'm from New York, I lived there around 3 or 4 years ago," he said. "I lived in Yonkers, so going back to New York was key. I'm done now, it doesn't matter if anyone else offers. I'm solid to Syracuse."
As a junior, Knox rushed for 858 yards and 13 scores and caught 13 passes for 301 yards and 4 scores. He can also play cornerback.
