Sykes has five at the top

One of the top defensive line prospects in the Southeast currently has a bevy of scholarship offers and has a top five that he is keeping a close eye on while he explores his options and moves toward making a decision.
Alcoa (Tenn.) defensive end Rae Sykes is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound pass rushing specialist from the same high school that produced five-star Florida State signee Brandon Warren in the Class of 2006.

"Recruiting has been going pretty good," Sykes said. "I've got a bunch of scholarship offers."
Currently, three SEC schools, one ACC power and one storied independent make up his top five.
"LSU, Tennessee, Florida State, Georgia and Notre Dame are my top five," Sykes said. "I have no leader."
He spoke about what made each school stand out.
LSU: "I like the coaches, and its somewhere different to go. I think my family can still come see my play."
Tennessee: "I really don't want to go far away from home and Tennessee is right down the road from me. My grandpa was big Tennessee fan so I like it, too."
Florida State: "I don't know too much (about Florida State). Brandon Warren said it would be a good fit for me and I'd like to take a visit there."
Georgia: "That's where I'm originally from and I like the school a lot."
Notre Dame: "They got a good school and a good system. They have very, very good academics."
There are several factors that Sykes will be considering when he makes his final decision.
"Academics, playing time, and coaching are all gonna be a big part," he said. "I've got to be focused and make the right choice.
"The school has got to be like home."
The decision will not come early, either.
"After the season, I'm going to take all of my official visits," Sykes said.
This summer, Sykes plans to camp at LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama and Louisville.
Sykes had 110 tackles in 2005.
