Williams currently sports a 255 pound bench, 265 pound power clean and recorded a 45.8 triple jump at the state meet.
Williams was selected all-league after collecting 43 tackles, five sacks, five tackles for loss, two fumbles caused and two fumble recoveries.
If you listen to Sweetwater head coach Eric Peterson, Williams could had even a bigger year. “We finally found out halfway through the season that Roderick needed contacts,” Peterson said. “Roderick was having a hard time picking up the ball. After he started to wearing contacts, he had a great second half of the season.”
Williams has athletic lineage as his uncle played for Colorado State. The Rams are showing interest in Williams. Other schools that are in the secret are Arizona, Colorado, UNLV and hometown San Diego State.
The scouting report on Williams is he is very athletic with the potential to be an exceptional rush end or he could turn into a terrific tight end.
Sweetwater also has an underclassman who has already grabbed the attention of Pac 10, Big 10 and Big XII schools.
Get your pen and paper because you will want to remember this name – Evan Groves (5-11, 185, 4.5).
Groves is a gifted running back who started as a sophomore. He ran for over 1,000 yards and scored 8 touchdowns. He is also a prolific kick and punt returner who racked up 907 return yards while returning one punt back for a touchdown.
Groves had big shoes to fill as he replaced Allen Thompson who started as a true freshman for the Washington State Cougars.
