Sweat is blowing up

It is amazing what a couple of impressive spring camp performances can do these days. For sophomore defensive end Josh Sweat of Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith that has definitely been the case, and it has resulted in seven early offers.
Sweat laughs a little bit when you ask him what it is that college coaches see in him, because it definitely was not his film.

"I really didn't play [much] last year," the 6-foot-4, 213-pound prospect said.
In Sweat's defense he was only a sophomore. And this year he is expected to step into a much bigger role at Oscar Smith.
Rather, it has been the camp circuit that has boosted Sweat's profile in a significant way. No one could have anticipated that he would explode in the manner that he has, but it has happened. Now Sweat has offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, NC State, Temple, Old Dominion, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
"Ole Miss was the first to offer," Sweat said. "That was about three weeks ago after a camp I went to. I haven't visited any schools yet but I think I was going to go visit a couple this summer.
"I'll probably go visit Florida, North Carolina State and Tennessee."
It is interesting that neither Virginia nor Virginia Tech has shown interest so far. That is probably due in large part to the lack of production last year. Sweat said if those schools did show interest he would give them plenty of attention, so there are no hard feelings over the lack of early interest. But he is also not intent on staying close to home.
And he definitely does not have any favorites at this time.
"I really couldn't say right now. They're all really nice schools. I'm really being as open-minded as I can [be]."
