Swann still wants to take visits

MORE ARMY BOWL Ten things to watch | Complete coverage
SAN ANTONIO - The recruiting world will probably know Damian Swann's college destination Saturday.
Sort of.
Swann plans to announce his choice during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday but still has a couple official visits in mind and wants to take them if the school for which he announces will allow it.
"I'm still thinking about it," said the four-star athlete from Atlanta. "I'm probably gonna announce anyway. And if they allow my visits I'll go, and if they don't, oh well."
Swann has visits set up for USC on Jan. 21 and Miami on Jan. 28. His only official visit to date was to Georgia.
New Miami coach Al Golden has been making a strong push for Swann, who will play defensive back during the Army Bowl and projects there at the next level, which is part of the reason he plans to hit Coral Gables if possible.
"He came right in and started working," Swann said of Golden. "He didn't take no break. He didn't wait until after the bowl. He got right in and started recruiting."
USC is also an attractive option, but it will take a visit for Swann to really know.
"It's just the West Coast and going to see if that's a fit for me," Swann said. "And see if I wanna be that far away from home. I wanna see if I can fit in in that environment."
But Swann, who would like to play baseball at the next level as well, already has a school in mind as he heads toward Saturday.
"It's locked in," he said.
