“Louisiana Tech has offered me a scholarship,” the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Sutton said. “They are the first school to come through with an offer.”
Several schools are in contact with Sutton through both mail and phone, but none have stepped forward to date.
“The top five schools on my list are Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Florida,” he said. “I have gotten mail from all of them. But I’m not closing any schools out. There are lots of them that have been sending mail.”
Sutton isn’t set on finding a school close to home.
“I don’t mind where the school is. I just want to find a place that I like the coaching staff and feel comfortable at.”
Sutton fits the mold of an all-purpose back, but he has carried the load for his high school team.
“I don’t mind carrying the ball a lot in a game. I carried it 25 times per game last year, so I think I can do that in college.”
Sutton doesn’t know what all camps he will attend this summer.
“I don’t know for sure which ones I will go to. I want to get to some one day camps and I would like to get to Florida and Texas camps for sure.”
