Sutton gives ECU visit a perfect 10

Fullback Devven Sutton out of Elizabeth (N.C.) Northeastern took his first official visit to East Carolina last weekend. The 6-foot-0, 239-pounder was very impressed with the visit rating it a perfect 10.
"They really surprised me because I knew it was a great school, but I didn't know how big it was and the people there are wonderful," he said. "I really enjoyed the whole trip, it was a great experience and I especially liked the campus and coaches. There were a lot more buildings on campus than I thought there would be and they have a lot of new stuff coming in that is really nice like a new cafeteria, weight room, pools and even all the football stuff.

"I also really liked the coaches a lot. They were all really straight forward and didn't beat around the bush. My recruiter Greg McMahon is a real good guy, but I especially liked coach Holtz. I got to talk to him one on one and he's not like every other head coach. He asked me mostly if I enjoyed myself and if I was considering them. What I really liked hearing from him was that he wants me to play as a true freshman at linebacker and perhaps some at fullback too, so that's really good."
What else did Sutton do on the visit?
"Besides hanging out with coaches, I went to a banquet for the players and they had some really good food there. On Saturday they woke us up and we got to tour the campus, walk on the field and then they escorted us around town," he said. "During the trip I was hosted by Durwin Lamb. That was good too because he's a really nice guy and introduced me to all the players. I really enjoyed him a lot."
Heading into the visit, Virginia Tech was leading for the two-star prospect. What has changed since his trip to East Carolina?
"Right now I'd say ECU and Virginia Tech are neck and neck," he said. "I'm still planning to go on my officials to Virginia Tech and Hampton. I think the trip to Virginia Tech will be really good. I've been on campus before, but I haven't been around it that much. I'm just looking for the same stuff I saw at East Carolina as far as the school and how I can help their program."
