Surprise offers for Williams

Walker Williams was surprised that Oregon State offered him and then even more shocked when Wisconsin came through with an offer as well.
Both programs join UCLA on the list for the massive offensive tackle from Tacoma (Wash.) Tacoma Baptist.

"Oregon State told me a couple times to call them and they sent me a few letters and when I called I got a hold of Mike Riley and he asked me how everything was going and then he offered me a scholarship," Williams said. "That was really surprising to me.
"With Wisconsin, it was an even bigger surprise. They hadn't sent any letters and they hadn't visited me or anything.
"They had seen my film before and they asked around about me and they contacted my mom to give them a call. When I called, coach (Joe) Rudolph offered me a scholarship over the phone. My mom was really excited about that one not only because of the school but because she has a lifelong friend who lives in Wisconsin."
With three offers on the table, Williams, a 6-foot-7, 320-pound prospect, is planning to take some visits.
He has already seen UCLA and USC during a recent trip to Los Angeles and will go to Oregon State next weekend. A trip to Wisconsin is also being set up but Williams didn't have a date scheduled yet.
Washington, Washington State and Boise State are showing more interest in Williams, who said he doesn't want to name a favorite until he sees which other programs get involved.
First, Williams wants to take some visits and then figure out which schools might offer before naming any top schools.
"I'm going to hold off on that until I see all the schools," Williams said.
